The Heavenly Island ANDAMAN
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands, one of the seven union territories of India, are a group of islands at the juncture of the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea.
The Andaman island is the habitat of indigenous or the Sentinelese people. (First peoples, aboriginal peoples or native peoples, are ethnic groups who are the original inhabitants of a given region, in contrast to groups that have settled, occupied or colonized the area more recently. )
The Sentinelese are the only people currently known for not reaching further than a Paleolithic level of technology.
According to the earliest archaeological evidence and documents, these indigenous people were the first habitant around 2,200 years ago.
However, genetic and cultural studies say :
“These indigenous Andamanese people may have isolated from other populations during the Middle Paleolithic, which ended around 30,000 years ago”.
Since then, the Andamanese diversified into linguistically and culturally distinct, territorial groups.
When we talk about holidays what picture comes in our mind on first instinct?
A heavenly place where anybody could spend a few days of relaxation.
So, just close your eyes and imagine yourself.
“Laying on the bed of sand, the coverlet of the sky, gentle breeze, the bang and splashes of the sea. Aromatized palatable of fries, roll and fish curry with steamed rice always ready to make you delightful”.
Altogether it is a complete beach relaxation package and I know nobody could afford to miss it.
Above demonstration was just a few words about beautiful and sandy beaches of Andaman islands.
Not only in terms of new era tourism but Andaman has also played a significant role in history and freedom of India.
For this, you can visit the cellular jail of Andaman earlier known as (SAZA-E-KALA PANI in Hindi).
There is a sound and light show in cellular jail by evening.
The show describes despite being tortured in the prison our gallant freedom fighter fought for our country’s freedom and sacrificed their lives courageously.
While visiting the cellular jail in daytime anybody can still feel the painful scream of our brave freedom fighters which will goose skin.
Our gallant freedom fighters were tortured in the jail and have beaten every day and whole night but they never gave up.
I have a special and respectful corner in my heart for our freedom fighters and soldiers. And I think every Indian citizen also have the same feeling.
Moving ahead towards the Ross Island badly affected by Tsunami on 26 December 2004.
Here you will find the rocky beach, old church and some ruins of islands.
In Andaman, there are so many sandy beaches which give you the fun of the various type of water sports.
You can roam around the city the by hiring a scooter, a personal taxi or you can enjoy the services provided by your trip organizer.
My words are too less to explain the fun and enjoyment anyone can have in ANDAMAN islands.
THE NICOBAR ISLAND
The Nicobar Islands, island group, Andaman, and Nicobar Islands union territory, India.
The capital or main administrative city of Nicobar islands is Car Nicobar.
The Nicobar Islands lie in the Indian Ocean about 800 miles (1,300 km) east of Sri Lanka and have an area of 711 square miles (1,841 square km).
The Nicobars, along with the Andaman Islands to the north, constitute the boundary between the southeastern Bay of Bengal (west) and the Andaman Sea (east).
The Nicobar group includes the islands of Car Nicobar (north), Camorta (Kamorta) and Nancowry (central group), and Great Nicobar Island (south).
There is very less known about the islands’ earliest history.
The Thanjavur inscription (1050 CE) of the Chola dynasty describes the land as Nakkavaram (“Land of the Naked”).
Danish missionaries visited the islands in 1756. In 1868–88 the islands claimed by the British, who established a penal colony there.
The Nicobar Islands were occupied by the Japanese during World War II.
In December 2004 the islands were hit by a large Tsunami that had been triggered by a massive earthquake in the Indian Ocean near Indonesia.
The Nicobars suffered extensive damage, and many people killed.
Car Nicobar is flat with rich, fertile soils. Nancowry, Camorta, and Great Nicobar are hilly.
The highest peak is Mount Thuillier, rising to 2,106 feet (642 meters) on Great Nicobar.
The island is densely forested with coconut, betel-nut palms, pandanus, mango, margosa, and beefwood (Casuarina) trees.
The population consists mostly of two ethnic groups, the Nicobarese, and the Shompens.
Agriculture is the principal occupation; crops include rice, corn (maize), fruits, vegetables, coconuts, and betel nuts.
Copra (dried coconut) making and oil pressing are the chief industries. The only important town is on Car Nicobar.
Nicobar islands are known for the various types of water sports available.
Water sports include snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing, under-sea walking and other thrilling sports.
Water Sports is one main reason for the huge tourist attraction to this place. People can enjoy with their families and prefer to relax or excite themselves.
